We went off to the Ritzy to see WALL-E for the second time (for most of us) because it was the Kids Club showing, and dirt cheap, and Tiny adored it the first time, and He hadn't seen it, and why not. And do you know what? - it continues to be a staggering achievement (particularly the first half, though the second half is extremely efficient Hollywood manipulation), and shrugs off majestically the challenges of a sold out cinema full of toddlers and two kids intermittently fighting for the popcorn and lousy seats because we were late getting there. I wept buckets, again, mostly at the manipulative bits in the second half because I'm shallow like that, and Tiny is now fixated on the problems of bone-loss in micro-gravity, which he in no way understands. Even He admitted that it was pretty good, and he normally refuses on principle to watch any film that does not feature car chases, explosions and Jean-Claude Van Damme kicking people.

It so happens that I have just started re-reading Excession, and I feel that WALL-E may offer an interesting comparison (but then I thought The Business reworked Pride and Prejudice so what do I know).
