Advertising buyer: Hello, I have a well-known brand of piss-weak painkiller to advertise.
Advertising seller: Well, you'll be wanting to advertise that in some kind of medical drama, then. All the hypochondriacs watch that rubbish, you know.
Advertising buyer: Good idea. Our product really is bobbins, though, I mean you wouldn't take it for real pain like ladies' things and that, it won't really cut through a proper hangover, it's only much use for men with colds...
Advertising seller: The Royal? That's bobbins....
Advertising buyer: I was looking for something a bit more, well... edgy, something, well... something with less Wendy Craig.
Advertising seller: Grey's Anatomy?
Advertising buyer: What!? I have some bloody standards, you know!
Advertising seller: I know! House! It's edgy and everything! And it hasn't got Wendy Craig. (Much.)
Advertsing buyer: Well... is there anything in it that might reflect badly on our piss-weak painkiller? Something like, I don't know, having the main character hooked on a proper painkiller like Vicodin?
Advertising seller: (Pinteresque pause) Er... no.

The above is His version of events. My problem with advertising Anadin Extra in the middle of this week's House was that the ongoing plotline does not reflect well on the gung-ho use of pain medication, of whatever sort. It's the pool of vomit that I personally would have wanted to avoid associating my product with. It does lead me to suspect that they'd never actually watched it and thought that something called House must be yet another property show.

You have a very rational view of humanity. My version:
House has a pain story line this triggers an association.
Anadin is advertised in House so it is linked to pain (rather than say 'yellow' or 'drug')
Person has pain so thinks of House and Anadin.
I think it is rather a good bit of product placement I wonder if we can get figures to see?
