brixtonbrood: (silly people dancing)

because a) after several days of pondering where to take Small, Tiny and grandparents today that was warm and indoors and easily accessible by Tube and wouldn't bring us into contact with huge hordes of Xmas shoppers or the entire holidaying population of London's schools, and would entertain all six of us - I finally remembered that the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green has just reopened - so we went there and it was a great success with interesting and nostalgic exhibits for older 2 generations, large numbers of wheeled vehicles for Tiny and several (but not too many) girls for Small to dress up and play Lions and Giraffes with. Also free! although we made up for it by spending in shop and yummy cafe and making automata go whizz.
and b) I stuck with the queue in Stockwell Post Office at 4:30pm last night in a spirit of Christmassy optimism and was repaid by a text this morning from my aunt in Bath saying that my parcel (containing new slippers for hospitalised grandma) had arrived in 16 hours flat.
The only downside is that all the many fabulous photo-opportunities were lost to posterity as we all forgot our cameras - but pah to that.

I am clearly on a roll - I shall go off to knock up chicken mushroom and broccoli stir fry for kids and watch the lovely Mark Ramprakash dance the opposition off the floor.
