Trip to the Hayward Gallery today to see the Dan Flavin retrospective - pretty much as good as an exhibition of fluorescent tubes could possibly be. We all enjoyed it in our different ways, Tiny enjoyed having space to toddle around and explore - his major artistic comments were "Sunny, Triangle". Small was actually a bit poorly although we hadn't realised that when we set out, but she enjoyed hiding from Uncle Ping, standing in the corners of the cruciform display areas, and the pink lights.
But the very best bit is that they had a make your own virtual Flavin machine set up, which is also available on the website along with lots of people's examples - some of them very literal-minded (but enjoyable - we liked the elephant) and some of them indistinguishable from the real thing.
