Long awaited events
Nov. 20th, 2005 11:32 pm1) Tiny's first two steps - my little deadline surfer had almost 48 hours before being officially "a bit slow" on the What To Expect 15 month development tick boxes (though in fact it specifies "walk well" which even the most deluded mother couldn't claim). Still - rah, rah, rah, soon we will be able to take him to fun places where it is not safe to crawl and let him out of the pushchair to toddle around.
2) Small's first trip to the cinema to see a film (not counting the umpteen films she failed to appreciate whilst breastfeeding and sleeping in her first 8 months). She didn't like it when Wallace was a rabbit, she liked it better when Wallace was being Wallace, and in fact she liked the penguins best of all, but overall a qualified success.
3) The arrival of a working DVD of Lucas Back In Anger. I wondered why it had taken so long until I saw it - it's ridiculously well produced - animated menus, scene selection, karaoke bits. Lovely, if perhaps OTT for a circulation of 30 odd. It was great to see all the bits I missed, and I wasn't as bad as I'd feared, His double act with himself as Yoda was a tour de force (aided incalculably by Janie hitting the audio cues precisely), and I now can see why the audience laughed at the bits they did, and not at the bits they didn't - wow, with a couple more years' work that could have been a really good show (still going to nominate it for Hugo Short Dramatic though).
