Kindle lust
Jun. 8th, 2011 01:44 pmPeople are using Kindles on the tube in ever increasing numbers. They look quite happy with them. One would fit in my handbag, unlike the vast majority of books on my to-read list. I am starting to see the point.
But......
That to-read list fills two bookshelves. There are at least two thousand adult books in the house (I can hear muffled calls of "Lightweight!" from most of my f-list but it is still quite a lot) many of which I have not read, and most of the rest of which I have explicitly chosen to keep on the grounds that I may want to re-read them, and I actually do re-read many of them frequently (mostly the comfort reads of course).
Looking on Good Reads, which I only started recently, I find that my to-reads, recently reads and currently readings (24 in total) split as follows:
Obtained from charity shop - 6
Obtained from library - 5
Bought new in order to be shared by me and Small - 5
Out of print, obtained 2nd hand from Amazon merchant - 1
Borrowed from mother/father - 2
Re-read of book I already own - 1
Bought new in order to be shared by me and Him - 1
Bought new in order to be read solely by me - 3
It's not really stacking up, is it?
