Dear clever culinarily inclined f-list. Cam anyone please come up with a main course for 6 adults which does not contain any meat, fish, mushrooms, quorn, cheese, pasta, lentils parsnips or fennel. It must either contain or be suitable for serving with potatoes (but not baked potatoes). It must taste nice.

I'm very seriously considering just doing a bulk order from the local curry house takeaway.

One option might be a Spanish tortilla. In these circumstances I'd make a large one with asparagus. Serve with salad and boiled potaties.

Alternatively here is one of my fave recipes. You need onions, canned tomatoes, turmeric, garlic, ginger and lime and then as you aren't using flesh, I tend to substitute butternut squash.

Fry onions. Add garlic and ginger. Add tablespoon turmeric. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper and lime. (plus chili to taste) then chunks of squash. Cook on the stove for about an hour. Add veg stock if you need to thin it.

How about the stuffed peppers from this article? You could just serve them with salad/green vegetables, or have rice as well.

We're just having the aubergine dish Imam Bayeldi - aubergines, onions, parsley, tomatoes, and some herbs. We've served it with rice is the only thing that is not to spec - but I guess you could serve it with spuds if wanted.

If you want I can send the recipe we've just used - a quick search online shows none that are quite like it and I can vouch for it being tasty.

I'd go in the direction of ratatouille, with plenty of sweet paprika, roast peppers and maybe aubergine for richness.

Spinach souflee. You get bonus points as a hostess because it is known as a hard dish to get right - of course the downside is that it is a hard dish to get right. Quiche if you don't fancy going for the bonus points.
Lucky you don't have an oviphobe or you really will be down to mixed veg. Picking a menu is far harder than actually cooking.
