brixtonbrood: (dalek biscuits)

We have cooked Bigos! And we ate it, and the kids ate it (twice in Tiny's case (lunch and tea)) and Tiny's Czech nanny claims she ate it and found it edible and only slightly wierd (the Polish/Lithuanian border, where this dish comes from, is a bloody long way from Prague). And whilst it did not exactly taste like the recipe from lovely Cafe Wanda (well worth a trip if you're on Clapham High St - if only because it is that strangest of things, a Central European restaurant with a good range of veggie dishes), it's still a small triumph, given that it was composed mostly of whatever was lurking in the back of the cupboard + a large jar of Polish sauerkraut from Costcutter, assembled according to my triangulation of 3 wildly differing recipes gleaned from Google.
Less water next time and more sweet paprika, also some prunes if I get to it before He does.

Whereabouts is Cafe Wanda on CHS? I like Bigos and haven't found anywhere local which does it...

Ah, conglomeration recipes - most of my savoury dishes are made like that!

It's near Clapham Common tube, in between post office and big Sainsbury's (as opposed to little Sainsbury's a couple of hundred yards down and medium sized Tescos in between them - sigh).
