Mixed emotions
Jul. 16th, 2006 08:36 pmVery exciting (if noisy) to see two of these circling low overhead this evening - we got the smalls out of their bath so they could see the third and fourth passes. My aviation-mad father was dead jealous. On the other hand, they are very very heavy US Marine military tech, and notoriously brick-like - my father's comment was that he didn't know they'd ever got two of them in the air simultaneously.
In chronological order my comments were:
a) Wow
b) God that's noisy
c) What is it? (pause for enlightenment by Him, who knows these things)
d) Why are they here?
e) Please go away and fly over someone else's house - or preferably no-one's house, Salisbury Plain would be good.
Best guess is that they needed four goes to find Battersea Helipad, despite its proximity to the river, and the power station, both of which are difficult to miss. Second best guess was both cynical and in poor taste and involved the Israeli army
