I have twice bumped into someone who is the spitting image of a moderately famous British actress whose work I admire whilst shopping in Clapham High St. I think it's probably her, but I'm not completely sure and it's driving me up the wall. I am extremely familiar with her voice so hearing her say something would settle the matter. What should I do if I bump into her for a third time?[Poll #691010]

"Excuse me, don't I recognise you from The Archers?"

Personally, but this might be harder to pull off if you're you rather than me, I was thinking of a doing a Bernard Black impersonation, ala *dissolute voice* 'Excuse me do you have a light?' - gropes in pocket - pulls out a broken cigarette - 'Ah, well, y'know, anyway?'

Ah well. More to mention that I came across Bernard a year ago than to actually answer your question. On the latter, I'd go for "Tamsin, ..." and see if she turns round.

Abduct her and hold her in your spare room 'til I can fly back and confirm it one way or the other. I admire her ... work too!

Could it be <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharleen_Spiteri>Sharleen Spiteri</a>?

To quote her from not so very long ago, "And yet who am I to bemoan my status as the neighbourhood 'You're that one off the telly, aren't you?'"

So the ingenuous approach might be the good'un.

Isn't she a bit of a god-botherer? With about three children?

She certainly has at least one small child (the woman I saw didn't have any with her) - I didn't know about her religious inclinations.

Offer Small a soft toy and say "Look! Tamsin!"

Play innocent! Ask a question about the local shops.
