Great Parenting Leaps Forward!

Small has said many cute, bizarrely insightful, surreal or impressive things over the years, but my favourite ever was yesterday's:
"Oh, alright then."
We have indeed fallen off the end of "What to Expect: The Toddler Years" and entered uncharted territory of life with a more or less rational small human.

but to do her justice, she didn't mean it in a grudging way; more in the sense of "I suppose you are actually right about that, and you are obviously not going to change your mind even if I do scream and shout, so I might as well just save the effort and do as I'm told." Hurrah!

You have entered the next phase. It's amazing what a basic command of language coupled with a complete inability to distinguish fantasy from reality can do. Hopefully the imaginary friends won't be the creepy sort.

No imaginary friends yet, but slightly confused by the way that random inanimate objects (beads on bead maze, contents of cutlery drawer) become the protagonists in long, involved, and entirely incomprehensible stories (the bead maze heroes are usually Rose and Doctor Who).

As I said..."entirely incomprehensible". For some reason, the stories I tell her don't include Doctor Who. I can do you how Croswyl, Small and Princess Leia saved the jellyfish from the nasty Troop Stormers though.
